Four lads from the city have been selected to represent Punjab in the Vijay Merchant Trophy – an Under- 16 cricket tourney – to be held from October 21 to December 2.  The tournament is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) every year.

The boys – Vanshish, Harjas, Kabir and Druv Rahul – were selected on the basis of their performances this in U-16 ML Markan Trophy this year.

Vanshish was the highest wicket taker with 39 wickets in five matches while Harjas took 34 wickets in the same Markan tournament.

Dhruv Rahul scored unbeaten 117 in the final and helped Patiala to win the tournament while Kabir had scored century in the semifinal to impress selectors for the Vijay Merchant Trophy.

All the four selected players have been training under coach Kamalpreet Singh at Cricket-Hub Academy.
