Andhra boys defeat GRIID

CHANDIGARH:Andhra Pradesh’s Rural Development Trust (RDT) defeated Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID, Sector 31, Chandigarh) 7-5 to win their boys’ U-14 handball match at the ongoing National Sports Meet for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities.

Andhra Pradesh’s Rural Development Trust (RDT) defeated Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID, Sector 31, Chandigarh) 7-5 to win their boys’ U-14 handball match at the ongoing National Sports Meet for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. In the girls’ U-14 category, RDT ousted GRIID 12-11.

Anshu claimed first position in the 100m event for boys’ 12-15 years, ahead of Vaihav Singh and Aniket, who claimed second and third positions, respectively. Roporno Mandal finished fourth. In the girls' 16-21 age-group sprint, Reetika and Ekanksha claimed the top two positions.

Mani Singh from Society for the Rehabilitation of the Mentally Challenged (SOREM) beat B Bharat of RDT 20-18 20-13 to progress in the table tennis event of boys’ U-20 category.

In the girls’ U-23 event, Anu from RDT overpowered Harleen Kaur from SOREM 11-311-4. In cricket, GRIID defeated Parivartan (Delhi) by 35 runs, while Karnal-based Tapan Rehabilitation suffered a 95-run defeat against Pehal NGO (Amritsar).

In skating, Anshu from Vitsalya Special School (Ambala) won the boys’ 100m rink race, while Reetika from Pehal NGO (Amritsar) claimed the girls’ category gold medal. —TNS
