Mohali, October 28

A day after a monkey had entered houses in Sector 69 and bit three persons, another monkey was spotted in the area today. The monkey bit one person and caused panic among residents.

This is the fourth case of monkey bite in the area in the week. It could not be confirmed that the attack was by the same monkey that was captured by forest officials on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, a monkey had entered some of the houses in the locality and damaged property. A 15-year-old girl, Suman, had sustained bite and claw marks on her arms and was given treatment at the Civil Hospital in Phase 6.

The forest department officials had failed in their attempts to trap the monkey in a cage and did not have the equipment, which was later sourced from Ropar. The monkey, which had been terrorising the residents since Wednesday, was captured when the officials used a tranquilizer gun to sedate the monkey.
