MOHALI: The power department has slapped a fine of Rs48,868 to the Balongi Police Station on charges of power theft, here.

The power department has slapped a fine of Rs48,868 to the Balongi Police Station on charges of power theft, here.

According to sources, the police station was being run on ‘kundi’ connection. After getting information, the team of the power department checked the police station and found the power pilferage.

According to the sources, the fine has been imposed for pilferage of past six months whereas the police station is being run on ‘kundi’ connection for past around 10 years.

Notably, the power department had earlier imposed fine of Rs1.98 lakh to Mataur Police Station and registered a case against the Naya Gaon Police Station for the same reason.— TNS
