Chandigarh, December 6

With veteran BJP leader Yashwant Sinha involved in a farmers’ protest in Maharashtra, his visit to Chandigarh where he, along with MP Shatrughan Sinha, was to be hosted by former MP Harmohan Dhawan has been postponed.

The two leaders are known for openly criticising the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They were to visit the city on December 8. The duo, along with Dhawan, who has also been sidelined by the party, was also to address the media during their visit.

Former Union Minister Dhawan told Chandigarh Tribune, “I have been communicated that the former Union Finance Minister is involved in a farmers’ protest where he was arrested and later released. He will be coming to the city after the protest concludes. The programme has now been postponed. The fresh date will be announced soon.”

An announcement of the three disgruntled leaders sharing a stage has created a flutter within the party. Already facing factionalism, the party is going to face a fresh challenge with Dhawan’s new move.

The former minister too has been vocal against the policies of the saffron party-ruled Municipal Corporation and the UT Administration.

He has spoken against bin distribution under the waste segregation project and the draft parking policy and favoured Metro for the city against the stand of local MP Kirron Kher.
