Mohali, March 13

In a shocking incident, at least 280 cows have died in the past two months at a gaushala being run by the Gauri Shankar Gau Sewa Samiti in Industrial Area Phase I here.

While Mohali Deputy Mayor Manjit Singh Sethi demanded a vigilance inquiry into the matter, Mohali Mayor Kulwant Singh has reportedly sought detailed report in this regard from MC Commissioner Bhupinder Singh in seven days.

Sethi alleged that either the cows had died due to the negligence of the management or they had been sold out.“It could be a scam,” said Sethi.

Ramesh Kumar, the president of the samiti, claimed that the animals have died due to foot-mouth disease.
