City boys face MP test in quarterfinals

CHANDIGARH:Hockey Chandigarh will play Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy for a place in the semifinals of the 9th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2019 (A Division) at the Sports Authority of India campus in Aurangabad on Sunday.

Hockey Chandigarh will play Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy for a place in the semifinals of the 9th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2019 (A Division) at the Sports Authority of India campus in Aurangabad on Sunday.

In the second quarterfinal, Hockey Haryana will lock horns with Hockey Punjab. Hockey Odisha will take on Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, while Uttar Pradesh Hockey will face Sports Authority of India (SAI).

On Saturday, Hockey Odisha registered their third win in four matches with a 2-0 drubbing of Hockey Bihar 2-0. Sushil Dhanwar (31st) and Sushant Toppo (45th) scored a goal each for Odisha. 

SAI also recorded their third win of the tournament as they defeated Steel Plant Sports Board 4-2 in their last league match. 

Rohit (30th, 50th) scored a brace, while Manish Yadav (19th) and Michael Topno (28th) added a 

goal each to the SAI tally. Nabin Kujur (37th, 47th) struck twice for Steel Plant Sports Board.
