Con man Toor sent to two-day police remand

Con man Parminder Singh Toor, who had been booked in case of impersonating for allegedly duping dozen of people on the pretext of providing them job and extorting money for the same, was brought on a production warrant by the police here today.

“The arrest of mastermind Toor will lead to various disclosures in the case as he was also wanted by the Patiala and Mohali police in other cases,” said the police officials.

The police sources said Parminder Singh Toor, who had been allegedly posing as Haryana Minister, was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate (Senior Division) Balwinder Kaur Dhaliwal which remanded him in the police custody till June 22. 

The Judicial Magistrate had heard the arguments on Tuesday morning, where counsel of the accused, Gurjeet Singh Kaura, pleaded before the court that Parminder Singh Toor had been falsely implicated in the matter. Whereas Public prosecutor told the court that there are enough evidences with them which prove Toor’s involvement in the fraud cases registered against him.

Public prosecutor also submitted that the documents seeking custody of the conman, Toor. After the arguments, the Judicial Magistrate based on the documents remanded Toor in the police custody till June 22.

The con man, who actually hailed from Nagla village near Tohana, Haryana, had been in judicial custody after being arrested on June 16 by the police during a raid conducted in a hotel in Zirakpur. The local court of Dera Bassi also dismissed his anticipatory bail recently.  

Toor had been accused of duping a dozen of people impersonating as a Haryana Minister on the pretext of helping them get jobs or getting their files cleared in various departments claiming his influence with higher government officials. His six accomplices had also been arrested during raid on June 16. 

Supreintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal said Toor’s interrogation would lead to many new revelations. Different cases of cheating had been registered against him.
