Derek takes lead on opening day

Chandigarh: Derek Sachdeva scored three points to lead the U-19 open category on the opening day of the Chandigarh Open and Girls Chess Championship at New Public School, Sector 18, here, on Saturday.

Derek Sachdeva scored three points to lead the U-19 open category on the opening day of the Chandigarh Open and Girls Chess Championship at New Public School, Sector 18, here, on Saturday. 

Aaditya Bhargav, who also scored three points, occupied the second spot, while Medhansh scored 2½  points to end the day in third place. Advit Aggrawal (2½  points) claimed the fourth position.

In the U-15 open category, Pratyaksh Goel led the field with three points. Aryan Arora (3 points) claimed the second spot, while Vedant Joshi and Amey Goyal occupied the third and fourth positions, respectively. 

Anubhav Tuknayat (3 points), meanwhile, dominated the field in the U-25 category. Levanshu Khullar was placed second. — TNS
