Ex-ASI dies in road mishap

MOHALI: A former ASI of the Punjab Police was killed in an accident between a motorcycle and an Activa scooter near North Country Mall on the Kharar-Balongi road here.



Mohali, June 27

A former ASI of the Punjab Police was killed in an accident between a motorcycle and an Activa scooter near North Country Mall on the Kharar-Balongi road here.

The victim has been identified as Kanwar Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Sunny Enclave, Kharar. He was dismissed following his conviction in a corruption case, said sources. According to the police, Kanwar was riding the scooter when he was hit by a motorcyclist, Om Parkash, a resident of Burail, Chandigarh. Om Parkash also sustained injuries in the incident and was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh. The police said Kanwar was on his way from Mohali to his residence at the time of the incident. He was taken to the Civil Hospital at Phase VI, Mohali, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a case against Om Parkash. — TNS
