Expect clear weather today

CHANDIGARH:The Met Department has predicted that there will be no widespread rain in Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali for the next eight days.

The Met Department has predicted that there will be no widespread rain in Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali for the next eight days. It has forecast clear weather for August 15.

“The monsoon will remain subdued for the next eight days with no significant rain. Only isolated or scattered rain will occur occasionally,” said Surender Paul, Director, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh.

“The day temperature is expected to rise in the coming days. There will be hot and humid weather,” he said. In the tricity, the monsoon rain deficit so far has been the highest in Panchkula district (64 per cent). The rainfall till August 14 was 223.4 mm against the normal 614.8 mm.

The normal is the average of weather parameters over the past 30 years. The monsoon rainfall is measured from June to September and the deficit is updated everyday. 

In Mohali, the deficit is around 32 per cent with 293.4 mm rainfall against the normal 432.2 mm.  Chandigarh is witnessing a defsicit of around 23 per cent with 435.1 mm rainfall against the normal 562.7 mm.
