Over 20 students of Gyandeep Public Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, are still waiting for their Class X and XII board results. While the school keeps telling them that their results will be out soon, the Education Department informed that it may not happen.

The worst ramification of this is that the students have missed out on most admissions for Class XI and undergraduate courses. The second counselling for admissions in government schools has also ended. Hence, that option has already expired for these students.

Recently, the District Education Office conducted an inquiry into the matter on directions of the Education Department. It was found that the school has adopted a practice of admitting more students than it has been allowed to. Around 10-12 students each in Class X and XII are the sufferers.

Deputy District Education Officer-I Anujit Kaur said, “We have confirmed it from the Central Board of Secondary Education. They said that they had issued roll numbers and declared results of all the registered students of the school.”

The students informed that they have paid the school fee all throughout the year but were not aware of such activities of the school.

The Director of School Education, Rubinderjit S Brar, said: “We have written to the Central Board of Secondary Education and also issued a show-cause notice for de-recognition. However, it is yet to decide on any relief for the affected students who are left in the lurch.”

The school has been indulging in the practice to maximise their profits. Affected students said: “Even last week the school told them that the result will be declared in three to four days. We can’t get admission anywhere without the result.”
