Maintain flow of traffic

As the mercury has gone up, more and more people are holding chhabeels in the city. They are doing a great job at a time when the Administration has been unable to provide drinking water in parts of the city. However, this has resulted in the blocking of roads. Imagine a situation where somebody in emergency is caught in congestion. Who will be responsible for it?

Install railing 

There is an opening to Bamboo Valley near the traffic lights of Sector 23/24, where stairs have been constructed without the provision of a railing. This troubles the elderly. The Ward No. 4 councillor has been apprised of the matter a number of times. Except for  assurances, nothing has been done. Hope this work is initiated at the earliest.

MC should take back cycle-only order     

The news item, “MC staff give cycle-only order the go-by”, in Thursday’s Chandigarh Tribune (June 14) and the photo showing two-wheelers of MC employees parked in the MC compound has made it a laughing stock. It shows how MC Commissioner’s order is being ignored. Surely, no one can be expected to go to the office on cycle in these hot summer days. Moreover, not many employees may have cycles these days. Such an order should be taken back and re-introduced in winter.

Damage to railings 

Right in front of Sector 8 on the NH-73 in Panchkula, railings were installed to prevent the entry of stray animals, which now stand uprooted. The road connects the Chandigarh railway station on one side and the Shimla highway on the other. Significantly, only a small part of the project was completed. Such a  situation must be properly looked into as the public money has gone down the drain.

Need shopping complex in Sec 63

Those living at the Sector 63 CHB flats are facing difficulties with regard to purchasing items of daily need in the absence of a shopping complex. The area is inhabited by government officials, students and those working at private firms. They leave for their office early in the morning and return late in the evening. They have no time for shopping. There is sufficient place in the area to construct a shopping complex. If the demand is accepted by the CHB, it will be a huge relief for residents as incidents of chain snatching and vehicle theft have increased. Suitable steps are needed to check these incidents.
