A six-month-old pit bull puppy, Mogambo, owned by a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC), was stolen from outside the judicial officer’s government house in Sector 19.

Sources said it was suspected that school students stole the puppy. A vegetable vendor reportedly saw two boys stealing the puppy. The accused were riding an Activa scooter.

The incident took place on Saturday after which the police were informed about the theft. Inspector Dalip Rattan, SHO of the Sector 19 police station, said the accused opened the main gate of the house and stole the puppy. The sources said the police tried to search for the puppy for a day and after failing to locate it, the police registered a case of theft at the Sector 19 police station on a complaint of a naib court.

The magistrate was in the court when the incident took place. The magistrate is a dog lover, who has other dogs as well. The sources said efforts were being made to identify the thieves through CCTV cameras installed in nearby houses.
