MOHALI: A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan in front of her seven-year-old son in Phase VII, Mohali.

A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan in front of her seven-year-old son in Phase VII, Mohali. According to the police, the boy was staying in the room with his mother’s body hanging for the past three days. The matter came to light when foul smell starting emanating from the house.

Jaspinder Kaur, who was in her 30s, had a dispute with her husband Ranjit Singh, a Lance Naik posted at the Ferozepur Cantonment. Her son Armaan was earlier studying at Dagshai in Himachal Pradesh, but was now staying at home as he failed to get admission to any local school.

Sources said the woman was upset over this issue too. Jaspinder Kaur’s friend Ratanbir Kaur reached the spot after getting information and saw her hanging. She informed the police. DSP (City II) Vijay Alam and the SHO of the Mataur police station, Sub-Inspector Rajiv Kumar, reached the spot.

Alam said, “The boy is in shock. He used to play outside and then used to sleep in the same room. He is too young to react.”
