Rape case: Bailable warrants against IO

Chandigarh, August 19

The local court today issued bailable warrants against the investigating officer (IO) of a rape case for not producing record related to the case in the court.

Sources said the court had earlier also asked the IO to bring the record related to the case, however, the IO had not complied with the directions.

The court has fixed August 27 as the next date of hearing and the IO has again been asked to produce the record.

A rape case was registered at the Mani Majra police station last year. It was alleged that accused Pankaj had raped the victim on the pretext of marriage. The accused’s counsel had moved an application in the court for producing record related to the case in the court. According to the application, the victim had entered into a compromise twice before an FIR was registered against accused Pankaj. — TNS
