NHM staff protest disparity in wages

CHANDIGARH: Members of the Chandigarh NHM Employees’ Union (CNEU) held a protest in support of “equal pay for equal work” and other demands at the Civil Hospital, Sector 22, here today.

Members of the Chandigarh NHM Employees’ Union (CNEU) held a protest in support of “equal pay for equal work” and other demands at the Civil Hospital, Sector 22, here today.

In a statement, the CNEU general secretary, Amit Kumar, stated that they were forced to protest as the health authorities failed to take note of their letters.

The union demanded implementation of the Supreme Court order on “equal pay for equal work”, which was adopted by the Haryana Government for the NHM employees from January 1, 2018.

Their other demands include stopping compulsory enrolment to outsourcing agencies for the existing employees of all cadre/categories and continuation of their services in the NHM, UT, reimbursement of less salary paid at the rate of 3 per cent to all NHM employees from February, 2019, release of salary by fifth of every month, 15 casual leaves for women staff, benefits of Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme and framing of the state regularisation policy.

They threatened to intensify their agitation if their demands were not accepted.
