Chandigarh, October 21

Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer Shilpy Pattar, was granted bail by the court in a graft case today. Her husband, Dheeraj Dutt, and alleged middleman GS Brar, were also granted bail. Pattar furnished bail bonds of Rs 20 lakh and was granted bail on the condition that she would not attempt to threaten any prosecution witnesses.

The bail application filed by Pattar’s counsel Terminder Singh says that she has been falsely implicated in the case and that investigation has been completed. The charge sheet has been submitted to the court and she has been in custody since August 6. The trial will take time to conclude and thus she should be granted bail, said the counsel. He also argued that there was no direct evidence against her.  The defence said a voice report was yet to come and Pattar’s presence could also be secured.

The CBI has already filed the charge sheet against the accused HCS officer, her husband and the middleman.

Pattar was arrested by the CBI for accepting Rs 50,000 as bribe on August 5. Pattar, who was the Chief Fire Officer and SDM, had allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh as bribe from the complainant but the deal was closed at Rs 1 lakh.
