Chandigarh, June 18

The Chandigarh Press Club condemned the killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari by holding a silent protest and condolence meet here on Monday.

The Editor-in-Chief of English daily, ‘Rising Kashmir’, was shot dead outside his office in Srinagar on Thursday. “The entire media fraternity in Chandigarh and tricity expresses shock and disgust at the brutal killing of Shujaat Bukhari and condemn the killing of someone who was truly passionate toward his profession. The government has failed to secure the interests of fraternity, which is a matter of great concern,” said Barinder Singh Rawat, president, Chandigarh Press Club.

Mediapersons observed two-minute silence for the peace of departed soul.
