Swamya’s triple strike helps Chitkara blank GMSSS-40

CHANDIGARH:Swamya struck thrice as Chitkara International School, Sector 25, blanked Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 40, 4-0 in the boys’ U-17 inter-school football championship here.

Swamya struck thrice as Chitkara International School, Sector 25, blanked Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 40, 4-0 in the boys’ U-17 inter-school football championship here.

Swamya scored the opening goal for Chitkara in the second minute and followed it up with another strike in the 14th minute of the game. 

Deepit extended the lead to 3-0 when he scored from the spot in the 27th minute. Three minutes later, Swamya scored his third goal to shut the doors on the opponents. 

Earlier, Government Model High School, Sector 26, beat Ashiana Public School, Sector 46, 3-1 in the penalty shoot-out on Saturday. 

Abhishek, Ajit and Vishal scored a goal each for Government Model High School, Sector 26, in the tie-break, after the two sides could not break the deadlock in the stipulated time.  

Deepak scored the lone goal for Ashiana School. 

In the last match of the day, Government Model High School, Sector 36, blanked Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, 3-0 after Nepolian scored a brace — 44th and 46th minute. 

Amandeep added a goal to the tally in the 51st minute.

St Anee’s cagers win

Sargun scored 14 points as St. Anne’s School, Sector 32, humbled Saupin’s School, Sector 32, 22-12 in the girl’s U-14 inter-school basketball championship on Saturday. 

In the second match, Strawberry Fields School, Sector 26, registered a 26-12 win over Vivek High School, Sector 38, with Zaara and Anaya scoring 10 points each for the winners.

In the boys’ U-14 category, St. John’s School, Sector 26, overcame St. Joseph’s School, Sector 44, 42-39. Arin alone scored 18 points for St. John’s.

New Public School, Sector 18, meanwhile, rode on Saman’s 28-point contribution to beat Gurukul Global School, Mani Majra, 48-38.
