CHANDIGARH: A Sector 21 resident reported a theft at his residence which mainly included gold jewellery.



Chandigarh: A Sector 21 resident reported a theft at his residence which mainly included gold jewellery. However, the complainant, Dr Chetan Malhotra, is yet to disclose the details of stolen items. He alleged that the theft took place on April 17. The police have registered a case under Section 380 of the IPC.

Man assaulted

Chandigarh: A Mani Majra resident was injured in an assault injured on Thursday. Naresh Sharma, the brother of the victim, Kishan Kumar, alleged that an unknown person stabbed his brother with a sharp weapon near their residence. Kishan got injured and was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Mani Majra. A case under Section 324 of the IPC has been registered by the police against an unknown person on Saturday. — TNS

Woman alleges rape, probe on

Zirakpur: A 31-year-old woman has levelled allegations of rape against Baljinder Singh, a resident of Mohali here on Friday. The victim, who actually hailed from Hoshiarpur but currently putting up at Zirakpur had approached the Zirakpur police and lodged a complaint against the accused. However, the police officials are tight-lipped on the matter. As per the complaint, the 31-year-old victim had alleged that the accused had made physical relations with her for the past several months without her consent. OC

One held for fraud

Mohali: The Sohana police arrested Charan Singh Saini, Director of Mohali-based Preet Land Promoters, in a fraud case, on Saturday. On the complaint of Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Sector 49, a case had been registered against Saini, a resident of Sunny Enclave, and Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia, a resident of Sector 86, at Sohana police station under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy). The complainant said he had met the duo in connection with buying a plot in Preet City in Sector 86 and had deposited a sum of Rs 52.23 lakh to their company.  TNS

Pupils seek justice for rape victims

Lalru:  Students of St Joseph School, Manauli Surat, Lalru, marched through the streets in Dera Bassi with placards condemning the brutal gang rape and murder of a minor in J&K. The students demanded justice for the victim's family and the implementation of better rules and strict action against the culprits. The students also raised slogans about the need for women safety and demanded that the government should enfore stricter laws for crime against women. OC

2 women held with ganja

Lalru: The Handesera police arrested two women and recovered 800gm Ganja from their possession on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Ruby (30), a resident of Handesera village, Lalru and Sushma (50), a resident of Shahbad, Haryana.— TNS
