Tutor held on sodomy charge

Mohali, August 13

The police booked a tutor on a charge of unnatural sex with his 11-year-old pupil at Phase 9 here on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Gurdip Singh, who hails from Tapa Mandi, Barnala, and is at present residing at Phase 9. The police have reportedly arrested the accused. A complaint in this regard was submitted by the grandfather of the victim, who alleged that his grandson went to the accused’s house for his tuition where the accused grabbed the boy and sodomised him. The victim ran from there and narrated the incident to his family.  

The victim alleged that the accused had also made a similar attempt earlier. 

Mohali DSP (City II) Ramandeep Singh said a case under Sections 377 and 511 of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act had been registered against the accused at the Phase 8 police station here. —TNS
