A local court held two persons guilty of sexually assaulting and robbing a girl on Thursday. The duo was held guilty under Sections 354, 354D, 397 and 34 of the IPC. The convicts have been identified as Raj Kumar, alias Gabbar, and Pooran Kumar, alias Prachi, both residents of Ram Darbar. The quantum of sentence is expected to be pronounced on Friday.

As per the victim’s complaint, on October7, 2015, she was going home when both convicts attacked her. Initially, they blocked her way and later teased her and started molesting her. She cried for help, but people gathered around and did not help her.

She later stated that the accused tore her clothes and also attempted to rape her.

When she tried to resist, she was thrashed and as a result, her nose started bleeding. It was also mentioned in the complaint, that the accused snatched her gold chain as well before fleeing the spot.

She claimed that they were influential people of the area and hence no one stepped up to help her.

The defence counsel, however, argued that they both were falsely implicated. After hearing the arguments, the court held both of them guilty.
