US delegation visits PU

Chandigarh: A delegation, comprising 10 faculty members and students from Pennsylvania State University (PSU), visited Panjab University on Tuesday.



Chandigarh: A delegation, comprising 10 faculty members and students from Pennsylvania State University (PSU), visited Panjab University on Tuesday. Prakash Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of History and Asian Studies, PSU, said they would look forward for MoUs with regard to student and faculty exchange programmes. He also informed about his forthcoming book “History of Hunger in India”.

UK Prof discusses Brexit

The Association of British Scholars (ABS), Chandigarh, and the Department of Public Administration jointly organised a special lecture on the topic, “Governmental Financial Resilience under Austerity in Austria, England and Italy: Hsow Do Local Governments Cope with Financial Shocks?” by Prof Martin Jones, head of department, Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, UK,  on Tuesday. While delving into the global financial crises of 2010, he said it provided an opportunity for theory building.  The financial crises led to cuts in central funding, reduction in local tax receipts due to the economic decline, increased demands for some services like social housing and economic, changes to funding infrastructure, unfunded policy changes, which led to Brexit. 

BCom counselling ends today  

After the second day of the BCom counselling at Panjab University (PU), seats from the general pool in city colleges were filled. The counselling was also held for reserved categories in the UT as well as general pools. Candidates up to Rank 1,200 were called for the counselling. On Wednesday, which is the last day for the counselling, the remaining seats will be filled. BCom coordinator Meena Sharma said if seats in colleges remained vacant, they would hold the third counselling. TNS
