Youth held for snatching Rs12,700

CHANDIGARH: The UT police have arrested a youth for allegedly snatching Rs 12,700 and a mobile phone from a person outside a bank in Sector 26.

The UT police have arrested a youth for allegedly snatching Rs 12,700 and a mobile phone from a person outside a bank in Sector 26.

According to the police, complainant Karu Sau, a resident of Daria village, had gone to Punjab National Bank to deposit money when two persons approached him.

The suspects struck a conversation with the victim and in the meantime snatched Rs 12,700 and a mobile phone. The duo escaped from the spot. The police were informed and a case registered at the Sector 26 police station.

Today, one of the suspects, identified as Avdesh Paswan, a native of Bihar, was arrested. The snatched mobile phone was also recovered from him. During interrogation, he revealed that he, along with his accomplice, used to target people coming to deposit money in the bank.

The second suspect in the case is yet to be arrested. — TNS
