The residence of former AAP MLA, Vandana Kumari, was burgled at Shalimar Bagh in northwest Delhi on Tuesday night. The thieves stole Rs 5.5 lakh, jewellery and cheques worth Rs 12 lakh, which were issued in the name of AAP.
The police were informed about the incident at about 11.20 pm on Tuesday. Kumari told reporters that she went to her office at Shalimar Bagh for a meeting and when she returned, she found the main door of her house broken.
"When I rushed inside, the house was in a mess. I rushed to the safe where I had kept the cash and cheques, they were missing," she said.
She also said that the cheques were crossed issued to the party so no bearer can encash them. The stolen cash, Rs 5.5 lakh, was recently raised through the party's fund-raising programme at Shalimar Bagh.
The police have registered a case.
