A businessman filed a complaint on June 25 that he was in the need of a maid, hence, contacted online services. The same day a person contacted him through a mobile phone and introduced himself as Kapil from Sudhir Enterprises.

Later in the evening, two persons Kapil and Shubanand came to him and fixed the wages of maid.

The next day, they sent a maid with a girl and Balram. Balram received Rs 26,000 from the complainant and left the maid there. However, after some time the maid decamped with the valuables. When the complainant tried to contact the accused, they did not answer his phone calls. Further, the complainant verified the address of Sudhir Enterprises which was found fake.

The police put phone numbers of the accused on surveillance and it was found that the gang was operating from Nawada and Mohan Garden. On the basis of information, Balram and two girls were arrested. One girl and accused are still at large, said the official.

The accused reside together in Mohan Garden. They purchased a phone and a SIM card on a fake ID.

They have got their contact number registered in websites, Justdial and Sulekha, and whenever a customer enquires about maid from the website they also received messages.

They contacted the complainant from mobile number and when the complainant agreed for getting maid a girl as maid was to be dropped at victim’s house and money was collected.

After some time the maid decamp stealing money and valuables, said the official.

The accused said they have duped many people by using this modus operandi, said DCP Vijay Kumar (West).
