1,225 women get training in leadership

DEHRADUN: A total of 1,225 women belonging to minority communities from adjoining areas of Dehradun are being given leadership training for the past three years.

A total of 1,225 women belonging to minority communities from adjoining areas of Dehradun are being given leadership training for the past three years.

The training programme is being conducted by the Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK), a voluntary organisation.

In the trainings conducted this year, 375 women belonging to Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain communities from Sabhawala, Hinduwala, Adhoiwala, Lakshmipur, Indripur, Martindale of Doiwala, Raipur, Sahaspur and Vikasnagar blocks of Dehradun district were trained.

In the last leg of 15 trainings, six batches of 25 women each were trained in a six-day training programme at Teliwala village of Doiwala block, Ramsawala of Sahaspur block and Line Jeewangarh and Martindel of Vikasnagar block. The trainings are sponsored by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the Nai Roshni scheme concluded today. The training sessions included women rights, leadership qualities, women empowerment, swachh bharat, women and child development, life skills, right to education, digital literacy, social schemes for minority communities, health and hygiene, financial and digital literacy etc.

Women participants were linked with the free-training programme of the Oriental Bank of Commerce’s Rural Self employment training institute where they would be trained on trades like soft toys making, candle making, mobile repairing, dairy farming, skill upgrade and many more so that they would be financial independent.
