The magic of Egypt was recreated at ‘The Spell of Egypt’ organised at International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD)

More than 60 students of the final year fashion designing and first year interior designing students together brought alive the charm of Egypt.

Study of history has always been emphasised upon at the INIFD. To adapt any kind of fashion, one needs to know the origin of the same, and fashion can not only be restricted to garments, it goes up to everything ranging from clothes to the walls and ceiling of homes, said faculty members at the institute.

Students at the institute researched about the uniqueness of Egypt from various perspectives and presented it for fashion and design.

Fashion design students adapted the elements of ancient Egyptian fashion and added these into modern Indo-Western silhouettes, whereas Interior design students were assigned a project to transform the entire show area into an Egyptian land.

Both fashion and interior design students collaborated to showcase the musical presentation based on a story of Egypt conceived and conceptualised by the students themselves.

The story reflected the epic war of thrones that took place in the Egyptian era. The zest to become the ultimate supreme power was shown through the musical presentation choreographed by students. The students not only showed their fashion designing skills and place the design from the past to the contemporary pedestal, but also showed acumen derived from the theme of Egyptian civilization.

“History is no more boring when we have such interesting projects to do,” quoted Amanjot, an interior designing student. “It is always fun to work as a team with interior designing students, it helps us to learn more about the subject,” said Ragini, a fashion designing student.
