The Sarthak Rang Manch, Patiala, staged a socially relevant Punjabi play, “Hummas”, on the third day  of the ongoing drama festival, organised by the Roopak Kala and Welfare Society,  at the Randhawa auditorium here today.

Based on  a story of Kirpal Kazak, the play made an attempt to highlight decaying human relationships and moral values, leading to a turmoil in society. The play was directed by Dr Lakha Lehiri.

The playwright  illustrated problems faced by the humanity through four stages of the human life- childhood  youth, adulthood and old age. Adequately rehearsed, the play tried to highlight issues of pressure exerted on schoolchildren by ambitious parents, unemployment among youth, betrayal in love and desertion of their parents by their children in the old age.

All actors fared well but the most saccomplished performance came from Jassi Saggu (Dina Nath) and Pooja (Bhagi).
