UT Adviser Vijay Kumar Dev today launched e-stamping in Chandigarh. The e-stamping service was started from the e-Sampark Centre in Sector 21. The launch was part of the Digital India Week celebrations.

The launch of e-stamping in the city is expected to help check all fraudulent practices in this field. Besides, the UT Administration will save a huge amount on account of payment of printing charges to the Government of India Press, Nasik, and the transportation expenditure from Nasik to Chandigarh, besides the loading and unloading charges.

The UT Adviser said after e-stamping, the Administration would soon start the e-court fees project. e-stamping is a computer-based application and a secured electronic way of stamping non-judicial stamp papers. This service will replace the prevailing system of physical stamp paper in Chandigarh in a phased manner.

The UT Adviser said, “This initiative will facilitate good governance and will eradicate malpractices related to stamp papers. This service is being provided to city residents at no additional charges. Besides, there is no waiting period and easy availability. It will also make revenue transactions safe and secure.”

The UT Administration has signed an agreement with Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), which has been authorised by the Centre to introduce e-stamping in the country. The SHCIL is already running this facility in a number of states and union territories.
