Students of Arya College today protested and blocked the traffic outside the college for nearly one and a half hour. Students were protesting after the college authorities had increased the amount of fine deposited at the time of getting dues.

Siddharth Tiwari, Vice President of Arya College Students Union, said students who failed to clear the condition or who did not appear for the mid-semester examination were fined Rs 500 but today when the students went for their dues clearance they were shocked to see Rs 1500 was taken as fine.

“Without prior information the authorities have increased the amount of fine by Rs 1000 which is not fair,” he said.

Police intervened into the matter and after the SHO, Civil Lines, Jatinder Kumar, met the Principal and later told the students to write an application to the authorities and give reason for decreasing the amount of fine.

“We will be giving the application tomorrow and in case our demand is not met we will meet the police officials to seek further help,” he said.
