BRS Nagar, Jalandhar win judo titles

LUDHIANA: Hosts DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, and Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar, emerged as the champions in the girls’ and boys’ categories, respectively, at the (U-19) DAV National Sports Cluster-Level Judo Championship held on the school premises here today.

Ludhiana, October 18

Hosts DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, and Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar, emerged as the champions in the girls’ and boys’ categories, respectively, at the (U-19) DAV National Sports Cluster-Level Judo Championship held on the school premises here today.

Participants from different branches of DAV schools drawn from Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur competed in the championship.

In the boys’ section, DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, and Police DAV Public School, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, secured the second and third positions, respectively, while in the girls’ category, DAV Public School, Batala, finished at the second place.

Sonia, senior judo coach from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Navdeep Jindal of the Punjab Sports Department, Gurpartap Singh, a national-level judo player from the SAI, and Abhay Chaudhary supervised the championship while Dr Anu Verma, principal, Police DAV Public School, Ludhiana, was present there as an observer.

JK Sidhu, principal of the host school, gave away the prizes to the winners. She exhorted the students to take active part in games which helps in leading a healthy and disciplined life.
