Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh met Water Resources Ministrt Uma Bharti on Friday to discuss the deadlock between the state and its neighbour Haryana over the Sultej-Yamuna Link Canal.

The chief minister is believed to have told Bharti that Punjab could not share it waters with Haryana because of a fall in water levels in its rivers and the resultant water shortage in the state.

The meeting is believed to have lasted for some 15 minutes.

The meeting comes a day after Singh met chief secretaries of Punjab and Haryana over the tussle.
