While reviewing the development works for Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts covering five Assembly segments, Chief Minister TS Rawat on Friday gave a go-ahead for revival of a hot spring in Kedarnath and expansion of a helipad in Gairsain. But his announcements left the opposition Congress dissatisfied.

“A go-ahead has been given for the expansion helipad in Gairasin -Bhararisain so that ample space was available for landing of four helicopters,” said Madan Kaushik, Uttarakhand government spokesperson and Minister for Department of Urban Development.

He said that in order to revive the hot spring in Kedarnath, the Chief Minister has also asked the GSI, PWD and other organisations to undertake a study and take steps for their revival.

The spring was damaged in the 2013 natural disaster. Manoj Rawat, Congress MLA from Kedarnath, who was also present during the review exercise, termed it as a waste of time. “I had attended the meeting with expectations, but was disappointed. The CM is only reviewing works/schemes that he had announced. Several proposals that I had put up haven’t been taken up,” he said.
