Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar today said 100 days of the state government in power had disappointed all sections of the society.

He said the Congress would launch an agitation from March in the state to safeguard interests of the people.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Tanwar said the party had given enough time to the present government to live up to the expectations of the people, but the BJP government had failed on all fronts.

“Today, farmers stand in queues throughout the day for fertilisers, but end up receiving lathi blows. Government employees, who were assured salary on the Punjab pattern are now being advised to shift to that state instead of honouring the commitment made to them before elections. The retirement age of employees has been lowered much to their disappointment and youths who were hoping to get employment have been told that there will be no fresh recruitments for the next two years,” Tanwar said.

Coming down on the Indian National Lok Dal, Tanwar said despite enjoying the status of the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly for its leader Abhay Singh Chautala, the INLD had virtually surrendered before the BJP and was not raising voice against the government’s failures.

The Congress, he said, was awake to the problems of the people and would not watch silently if the Khattar government continued ignoring people’s interests.

Tanwar refuted allegations that there were any internal bickering in the state Congress and said the party was united under its national leadership.

Answering questions on the Delhi Assembly poll, Tanwar said the Congress would emerge as a party to have a prominent role in the government formation.

He said people of Delhi had realised that ever since Sheila Dikshit government had been voted out of power, their sufferings had increased.
