Day 1: 17-yr-old boy handed over to relative in Pinjore

On the first day of operation “Muskan”, the Panchkula police today handed over a 17-year-old boy to his paternal uncle after the minor was found working as a cook at a hotel in Pinjore.

The family hails from Nepal and is based in Pinjore.

“We were checking hotels when this boy was found cooking,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pramod Kumar.

The police team also failed to trace the parents of a 10-year-old girl while checking the data.

“We visited Bal Sadan in Sector 12-A where there were 42 girls. The parents of 41 were traced but one girl’s family could not be traced. We are trying to locate the family,” said the ACP.

The girl was found from the Kalka railway station on May 8, 2013,” the police said.

“Muskan” has brought a ray of hope for family members of missing children.

As many as 63 police officials in the Panchkula-Ambala Commissionerate were out on the streets in civvies to interact with children.

Fifteen children are missing from the commissionerate since January 1 this year of whom four are from Panchkula district.

“Police teams have been asked to visit shelter homes, bus stands, railway platforms and religious places to look for missing children. Three police officials from each police station conducted a search throughout the day today in their respective areas,” said DCP (Ambala Rural) Vijay Pratap. “The information will be uploaded on the site of the MHA so that missing children can be reunited with their families,” said Commissioner of Police OP Singh.
