Haridwar: Lakhs of devotees from across the country arrived here today to take a dip in the Ganga and visit shrines on Kartik Purnima.

Haridwar, November 14

Lakhs of devotees from across the country arrived here today to take a dip in the Ganga and visit shrines on Kartik Purnima.

A huge turnout of devotees left various stretches on national highways near Har-Ki-Pauri blocked with traffic.

From the wee hours of the morning, devotees in a large number were seen arriving at the sanctum sanctorum of Braham Kund, Har-ki-Pauri and adjacent Ganga ghats of Malviya, Birla, Nai Sota, Kushawrat and VIP ghat.

Elaborate security arrangements were put in place for the festive bathe by the district police administration.

Superintendent of Haridwar Police Rajeev Swarup, Superintendent of City Police and Mela police incharge Mani Kant Mishra along with district magistrate Harbans Singh Chug, City Magistrate Jai Bharat Singh and other officials monitored the Kartik Purnima festive bath proceedings.
