Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that differently abled persons having 60 disability would now be eligible to get a pension of Rs 1,200 per month in the state. Earlier, only those with at least 70 per cent disability were eligible for it.

Khattar made this announcement at Vikas Rally here after Sushila Devi of Badak village complained that she could not get a disability certificate for her differently abled minor son despite having made several rounds of government offices.

The Chief Minister directed all deputy commissioners (DCs) across the state to ensure immediate issuance of disability certificates whenever differently abled persons came to their offices for the purpose.

“Now, it is the responsibility of the DC to call the doctor to his offices in case any disabled person approaches him for a disability certificate. The DC will also ensure inclusion of his/her name in the list of pension beneficiaries, if he/she fulfils the minimum disability condition,” Khattar said. Reiterating his government’s commitment to provide ample irrigation and potable water to Mahendragarh, Khattar said serious efforts were being made to bring the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal water to Haryana.

“I have urged Union Minister Uma Bharti to resolve the SYL issue at the Centre Government level as early as possible. Advocates have also been asked to firmly present in the court the state’s claim on SYL water,” he said.

Talks were also going on with the Punjab Government to get water from the Hansi-Butana link canal, while the Rajasthan Government had been contacted to link the JLN canal with Masani Barrage.
