Hoshiarpur lift overall trophy

HOSHIARPUR:Hosts Hoshiarpur topped the leaderboard withnine points to lift the overall trophy on the concluding day of the Punjab State Games for Boy's U-14 & U-17 at the Multipurpose Outdoor Stadium here today.

Hosts Hoshiarpur topped the leaderboard with nine points to lift the overall trophy on the concluding day of the Punjab State Games for Boy's U-14 & U-17 at the Multipurpose Outdoor Stadium here today. 

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar ended as runners-up with seven points, while Shibzada Ajit Singh (SAS) Nagar had to content with the third place finish after scoring six points. 

Shaheed Bhatat Singh Nagar, meanwhile, beat Sangrur 3-1 in an exciting U-14 volleyball final to clinch gold. 

Bathinda blanked Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar 3-0 in the bronze medal playoff.

In the handball final, Ludhiana ousted Amritsar 22-18 to won the gold in the U- 17 category. Faridkot beat Moga 33-16 for clinch bronze.

SAS Nagar clinched the U-17 basketball gold after beating Mansa 72-58 in the title clash. Hoshiarpur registered a narrow 37-32 win over Mukutsar Sahib to pocket bronze.

In U-14 football final, Roop Nagar blanked Amritsar 2-0 to grab a gold medal. Hoshiarpur won bronze after defeating Gurdaspur 1-0. 

In the U-17 category, Hoshiarpur clinched gold by beating Gurdaspur 1-0 in the finals. Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar defeated Tarn Taran 1-0 to claim bronze.
