Panipat, January 4

Members of Akhil Bhartiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS) will hold an indefinite dharna at Ugrakheri, a village in the district on the Panipat-Haridwar highway, from January 29.

It was decided during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Pratap Dahiya, national executive member, and Banwari Singh, a senior member of Ror Mahasabha, at Ror Dharamshala here today.

Members of five castes, namely Jat, Ror, Jat Sikh, Tyagi and Mula Jat, were present at the meeting.

Dahiya said the ‘Justice March’, which had been started from Sampla in Rohtak on December 23, would enter the district on January 11 and halt at Kait-Shahpur village in the Israna block.

The march would cover Mandi, Gwalra, Samalkha, Pawti, Dekadla, Atta, Jorasi, Karhans, Machroli, Jhatipur, Ugrakheri, Rajakheri, Kutani, Chandoli, Badoli and Ganjbar, which are Jat-dominated villages, the next day and enter Karnal district in the evening, he said.

Scores of members of the five communities, whose reservation had been struck off, will go to Kharar, a village in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, to participate in a rally proposed by the ABJASS for January 8, he added. A new strategy for further course of the movement would also be decided at the rally, he said.

The indefinite dharna to be held at Ugrakheri would be peaceful, Dahiya maintained.
