Juvenile justice, human rights discussed

DEHRADUN: A national seminar on “Juvenile justice and Human rights, contemporary issues, challenges and opportunities” was organised by the Faculty of Law, ICFAI University, on the occasion of “Constitutional Day” here yesterday.

A national seminar on “Juvenile justice and Human rights, contemporary issues, challenges and opportunities” was organised by the Faculty of Law, ICFAI University, on the occasion of “Constitutional Day” here yesterday.

University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof B K Kumar, Vice Chancellor Dr RK Lalawni, guests of eminence Prof DP Verma, Prof Priti Saxena and Dr Yogesh Pratap Singh inaugurated the seminar.

Dr DP Verma from Law School, BHU, was the keynote speaker. He presented his view on Juvenile Justice Administration in India and said the juvenile justice system should maintain perfect balance between reformative justice and retributive justice.

Prof Priti Saxena, Dean, School for Legal Studies, BBAU Central University, Lucknow, expressed her concern regarding amendment as suggested in Juvenile Law under the 2015 Bill.

More than 100 research papers were presented by delegates from across the country at the day-long seminar. — TNS
