A law student of Chaudhary Devi Lal University began a hunger fast protesting the denial of his attendance sheet by an assistant professor of the varsity. Vikas, who sat on hunger fast in April this year too, alleged assistant professor Rajesh Malik had been nursing a grouse against him as he had lodged a complaint against Malik.

Vikas said he had already completed his LLB course, but was unable to get enrolled as an advocate as he needed his attendance sheet for the same. He alleged Prof Malik was delaying it in a bid to seek revenge.

Malik, however, maintained the student was trying to blackmail him as well as the university by these tactics. “On an earlier occasion too, Vikas staged a dharna to get admission to the ninth semester, though his lectures in the seventh and eighth semester were short,” Malik said.

Malik said Vikas was lying that he had completed his LLB course. He added Vikas was yet to clear certain papers to get his degree. Malik alleged Vikas had developed a habit of blackmailing the university by resorting to such hunger strikes.
