Man murders wife, teenaged son

PHILLAUR: A debt-ridden businessman allegedly murdered his wife and a 16-year-old son here on Friday night.

A debt-ridden businessman allegedly murdered his wife and a 16-year-old son here on Friday night.

Sukhdev Singh, who dealt in used tractors, was reportedly under debt.

His wife, Maninder Kaur, and son Taran Raj Singh were murdered with a sharp-edged weapon in their house behind the dealership office near Ramgarh Bypass in Phillaur on Friday night. Sukhdev Singh’s elder son, Karambir Singh (21), sustained serious injuries in the attack and was admitted in a local hospital.

Phillaur SHO Lakhwinder Singh said the suspect fled on a motorcycle after the attack. He was trading in used tractors and had debt mounting.

Karanbir discovered the murders when he reached home and asked his father about his mother. The suspect allegedly attacked him and escaped.

The Phillaur police have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC against Sukhdev Singh.
