MC takes over Sukhna, Elante Mall parking lots

CHANDIGARH: The Municipal Corporation today took over two parking lots —Elante Mall and Sukhna Lake — after terminating the licenses of contractors.

The Municipal Corporation today took over two parking lots —Elante Mall and Sukhna Lake — after terminating the licenses of contractors.

But on the very first day, the MC staff was found absent from their duties. While the MC staff was present at the Elante Mall parking lot, but the staff was not found at the Sukhna Lake parking lot in the evening hours. MC Additional Commissioner Sarita Malik said soon they would hold auction of these parking lots.

The MC had terminated licenses of both the contractors, as the replies submitted by both contractors to the show-cause notices issued were not satisfactory.

On April 7, the MC had issued show-cause notices to both contractors as a majority of the complaints of overcharging received by the civic body were from these two lots. However, on April 8, both contractors had submitted their replies and surrendered their lots.
