The police tonight booked SP Salwinder Singh under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.

SSP Jasdeep Singh confirmed the development. Salwinder is already facing a rape case filed by a local woman in August. He is yet to be arrested.

In the latest case, a joint complaint was filed by seven women constables of Gurdaspur. The case was registered after the SSP’s office received the report of the inquiry conducted by the ADGP (Investigation). An inquiry had also been conducted by Gurpreet Deo, a senior police officer.

Salwinder was allegedly kidnapped by a group of militants a day before the Pathankot terror attack.

In the earlier case, a local resident had alleged that Salwinder raped his wife on May 9, 2014.

The case was registered after GS Khurana, an IPS officer who conducted the inquiry, concluded in his report that the woman was raped.
