A top security official on Tuesday said Monday morning’s attack close to the Line of Control (LoC) which left three Border Security Force personnel dead and two others wounded was carried out by Pakistan’s BAT (Border Action Team).

“…Apparently, it seems, a BAT action where the Pakistani army has given fire support to the militants to infiltrate into India,” Additional Director General BSF Arun Kumar told reporters in Srinagar after the wreath laying ceremony of the three BSF jawans.

Three BSF jawans were killed and two others were injured when militants attacked a BSF post close to the LoC in Machil sector in frontier Kupwara district. One militant was also killed in the gunfight.

Army had been maintaining that three BSF men were killed in encounter ahead of LoC fence. They had also ruled out that it was BAT action.

After the attack there was also shelling from across the LoC and the Indian Army retaliated effectively.
