Folk life festival Virasat begins today

Bringing the vibrant colours of India to Uttarakhand, Virasat, the festival celebrating the folk life, is all set to begin from Friday.

Bringing the vibrant colours of India to Uttarakhand, Virasat, the festival celebrating the folk life, is all set to begin from Friday. The 15-day festival will showcase different aspects of heritage through crafts bazaar, workshops, fold dances, music, theatre, exhibitions, talks, seminars, film festival, literature, festivals and cuisine stalls.

The festival is being organized by REACH (Rural Entrepreneurship for Art and Cultural Heritage). Around 400 crafts persons and 400 artistes are expected to be part of this extravaganza.

The festival would feature artistes, including Wadali Bandhu, Indian Ocean, Mir Mukhtiar Ali, Lakhwinder Wadali, Warsi Bandhu and Nooran sisters along with several others. The festival will also include classical music renditions by Shashwati Mondal, Pt. Kaivalya Kumar, Arti Ankalekar, Pt Tarun Bhattacharya and others. — TNS
