Jind, May 1

The call for “jail bharo” by the Jat Yuva Ekta Manch received poor response in the district today. Not more than 100 people, including activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Jat Sangarsh Samiti (ABJSS), gathered at the protest site on the Hansi road.

Office-bearers of the manch blamed senior Jat leaders for the low turnout at the protest against the Haryana Government for not releasing youths arrested during the Jat agitation for reservation.

“Some of our senior leaders are playing into the hands of police and civil administration. This is the reason that the demand for the release of innocent youths has not been accepted,” said Deepak Kumar, convener, Jat Yuva Ekta Manch, Jind.

The police said workers of the manch did not court arrest in protest against the attitude of Jat leaders.

The manch made it clear that they would continue its protest for a week here and court arrest daily.
