Speed up work on Rohtak-Hansi line: Prabhu

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today directed the officials to speed up work on the country’s first elevated railway line from Rohtak and the Rohtak-Hansi railway line.

The minister, who was in Chandigarh today to inaugurate nine major projects for Punjab and Haryana, said the Ministry of Railway had signed an MoU with the state government under which a joint venture company (JVC) would be formed with Haryana. He said infrastructure would be developed and modern facilities would be provided at railway stations.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said during the event that his government had identified 10 railway stations that needed modern facilities. He said there was a need to speed up the work on the Rohtak-Hansi railway line, which would be constructed at a cost of Rs 660 crore.

As per the MoU, the state will have to share 51 per cent of the cost for every project and 49 per cent will be contributed by the Railways.

Prabhu also announced constitution of a coordination committee of the Railways and Punjab officials.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Information and Technology and Food Processing Adaish Partap Singh Kairon demanded good railway connectivity for religious destinations in Punjab.


Train service commences on newly laid Sonepat-Gohana-Jind rail track

Sonepat: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today formally inaugurated an 81-km-long new railway track between Sonepat and Jind through remote control from Chandigarh. Sonepat MP Ramesh Kaushik flagged off a passenger train from Sonepat railway station on the track.

Divisional Railway Manager Arun Arora told mediapersons that the passenger train (DMU 74019/74020) would run six days in a week and it would stop at Sonepat, Lath, Rabra, Gohana, Butana, Issapur Kheri, Bhambewa, Lalit Khera, Pandu Pindara, Jind City and Jind Junction.

The train will start from Jind Junction at 10.30 am and reach Sonepat at 12.50 pm. Departure from Sonepat and arrival at Jind Junction has been scheduled at 1.10 pm and 3.20 pm, respectively.
